Our
Breeding Program conforms to SV regulations designed to protect the
utility, temperament and health of the German Shepherd Dog.
The SV is
the founding organization (1899) of the German Shepherd Dog and is
the largest single breed club in the world. It is responsible
for the Breed
Standard
which addresses the physical attributes and character of the German
Shepherd Dog.
A dog's
breed worthiness is established through a Breed Survey. A Breed
Survey provides a detailed critique of a dog's conformation,
movement, temperament, pedigree and may offer specific breeding recommendations.
The sires
and dams of our puppies have the following qualifications:
*
Breed Survey: Class 1 (Kkl-1) "recommended for breeding"
*
A minimum working title of Schutzhund I (or equivalent)
*
Hips certified as clear of dysplasia ("a" stamp, OFA, OVC)
*
Elbows certified as clear of dysplasia (dogs born after 01/01/04)
*
Show ratings of V (Excellent) or VA (Excellent-Select)
*
BH: obedience & temperament test
*
AD: 20 km endurance test
What is Schutzhund?
Schutzhund
is a breed evaluation test developed for the German Shepherd Dog in
order to preserve its workability. It consists of 3 phases:
tracking, obedience and protection work. A dog and handler team
must pass all phases in order to earn a Schutzhund title. |
